Assessment Tool Development
How was CARSability developed?
CARSability is a response to industry’s request for an accessible tool that would assess the skills of automotive repair and service and collision shop personnel and identify the most appropriate training to strengthen/develop skills, leading to a more productive workforce.
Over 1,000 industry employers and employees volunteered their time and expertise to develop functional occupational standards and assessment questions, based on these standards. Each of the 34 standards and the over 10,000 assessment questions developed were rigorously validated by industry employers and employees across the country.
CARSability has taken over four years to develop but now offers a consistent means for industry employers to better allocate training budget by better identifying training needs and by having the ability to access the most appropriate training available, from anywhere across the country.
CARS would like to thank the generous support of the national automotive repair and service industry in the development of CARSability, its project advisory committee members and the Government of Canada sector council program for funding support.
