Why should I assess my essential skills?
There are a lot of good reasons to assess and improve your essential skills.
- Give yourself a career advantage
Showing on your resume that you have not only the technical job-related abilities you need, but that you also have strong essential skills, can really help you stand out from the crowd. It can mean the difference between getting the job you want and moving ahead in your career—or missing out.
- Get better at what you do
Of all the tools you use, your own skills are the most important. It’s those skills (both job-related skills and essential skills) that help you get the job done right every time.
- Demonstrate your value
When you have strong essential skills, you are able to do your job better, and that makes you a more valuable employee.
- Make a differenceNot only do these skills help you be the best you can be in your job, it also helps make your workplace a better, safer place and fosters the respect the trade deserves

How long does an assessment take?
The assessment is composed of 100 questions, so you should set aside a couple of hours, if possible. However, it is designed to work within any available time that you have. You can stop at any time and return to continue an assessment as often as you like. You can also review and change your answers as often as you wish.
After you have completed all the questions and have submitted your assessment, you will be given your detailed results immediately, together with training recommendations.
